01 / WHY STUDYNOTE

They’re not behind. They just haven’t been shown properly.

Good tuition is not more school after school. It is a different conversation.

We make the room smaller, the questions safer, and the path forward clearer.

Questions parents ask

Parents usually get in touch for one of these reasons.

  • The homework is done, but none of it is sticking.
  • The marks are fine until the topic changes.
  • They have quietly stopped asking questions in class.
  • SACE has started, and the pace has changed.

02 / SUBJECT LIBRARY

Find your starting point.

Coming soon

  • English Essential English and Literary Studies at SACE, and the Years 7 to 10 SA Curriculum below it.
  • Humanities History, Geography, Economics and Business, Civics and Citizenship. Years 7 to 10 first.
  • Languages One language done properly before a second is added.
  • The Arts Visual Arts and Music to begin with.

These are not open for booking yet. Each one opens when there is a teacher who can do it properly. If one of them is what your child needs, tell us anyway. We will be straight about where it is up to, and we will try to find you someone.

03 / WHO TEACHES

A teacher.
Not an agency.

You will know who is sitting with your kid before the first session, not after it.

04 / THE DIFFERENCE

Attention is
a learning tool.

  1. 01 Tutors who know their subject, and how to explain it another way.
  2. 02 A room small enough to think out loud, make mistakes, and ask again.
  3. 03 SACE-aware support that connects practice to the work that actually counts.
6 / 8 Six at most at SACE and eight in Years 7 to 10, usually fewer. One-to-one is available.

05 / SESSIONS AND FEES

What it costs,
and what it doesn’t.

Same tutor, same session, wherever it runs. The small group is priced per student, one-to-one by the hour, and everything starts from the figures below. You are told the exact rate before you commit to anything.

  • Practice notes after every session
  • A short progress note before each assessment
  • The same tutor every week, not whoever is free
  • A first conversation that costs nothing

06 / QUESTIONS PARENTS ASK

The practical
answers.

If something is not here, ask it in the form below and we will answer it plainly.

All questions
How many students are in a session?

Six to eight by year level, and usually fewer. Small enough that nobody hides at the back, and small enough that a tutor can sit with each student inside one session.

One-to-one is available if that suits your kid better. Say so in the form and we will talk it through.

Do we come to you, or do you come to us?

We come to you. Sessions run in your home, at a local library if home is busy, or online, across Adelaide and the Adelaide Hills. It is the same tutor and the same session whichever you choose.

A tuition centre is planned. We do not have an address to announce yet. Until we do, the three options above are how every session runs.

What does it cost?

Ask in the form below and we will tell you exactly what a session costs for your student before you commit to anything.

One-to-one rates start from $90 an hour in your home, $80 at a library and $70 online. Small groups start from $45 a student, an hour. The first conversation costs nothing, and nothing is payable until you have had it.

How will we know it is working?

Every session ends with practice notes, and there is a short progress note before each assessment. You will be able to see what has been covered and what is still shaky, without having to ask.

Do you cover SACE properly?

The South Australian Certificate of Education, Stage 1 and Stage 2, across mathematics, science and technologies.

This one catches a lot of people out. At Stage 1 the subject is simply Mathematics, which schools timetable as Methods A, B and C. Mathematical Methods and Specialist Mathematics exist only at Stage 2.

What curriculum do you follow for Years 7 to 10?

The South Australian implementation of the Australian Curriculum, not a generic national one. The move to Version 9 reorganised where a number of topics sit, and schools are not all at the same point in that transition, so two students in the same year level can genuinely be on different sequences.

Practically, it means we ask what your kid covered in class this week and work from that. SACE Stage 1 and Stage 2 follow the SACE Board subject outlines, which are the same for everyone.

Underneath SACE sits the SA Curriculum, South Australia’s own version of the national curriculum. It is coming in stage by stage, and the department expects that to be finished in 2027. For maths it still comes down to the same six areas: Number, Algebra, Measurement, Space, Statistics and Probability.

Schools are at different points with it, so rather than assume, we work from what your kid actually covered in class this week. Bring the topic name off their timetable and we will map it.

Who will be teaching our child?

Right now, sessions are taught by the two teachers who founded StudyNote. Both are registered teachers with a current Working with Children Check, and both are teaching in South Australian schools this year.

As we grow, some sessions will be taken by other tutors. Each clears the standard set out on the Your teacher page and is named there, with their qualifications in their own right, before you commit to a session.

How do we start?

Send the form below. We will reply to arrange a short conversation, and a diagnostic task gives us a clear starting point. That first conversation is free and commits you to nothing.

  • Vatsal finished SACE Stage 2 with an A+ with Merit. There was no trick to it, just draft after draft, iteration after iteration with guidance the whole way, until the final version was the strongest work he had ever handed in.

  • Mukul’s STEM project was an innovation build on VEX robotics. He had to design it, build it, and debug it until it worked. Engineering as something you do with your hands, not something you watch on a slide.

    Mukul Year 10 · STEM

  • The feedback Rowan kept giving was the word clear. Ideas that had slid past in class, like what a program is actually doing step by step, stayed put once they were walked through at his pace, and he started explaining them back.

Rowan Year 8 · Digital Technologies

  • Corbin learned to code by building a game in Godot. The fun was doing real work, because every feature he wanted his game to have was a programming concept he suddenly had a reason to master.

Corbin Year 11 · Digital Technologies

  • Essential Mathematics runs on real-world problems, so that is how it was taught. Every calculation was worked through on something real, in plain steps, and by the end Dimitri and Callum were setting up the working themselves.

  • Ella started Year 7 tech uncomfortable in the room. Every task was scaffolded into steps she could actually finish, until the finished work did the reassuring and the subject stopped being the scary one.
