The links worth
bookmarking.
Free and official, or free and genuinely good. Nothing here costs anything, every one is a page we would point a parent to anyway, and they are grouped by the question they answer. Each one opens in a new tab, so you keep your place here.

Years 7 to 10
What are they doing in class this week?
South Australia is adapting the Australian Curriculum into its own version for public schools. Both are published, and both are worth a look when a topic name on the timetable means nothing to you.

- Curriculum for Years 10 to 12 How the senior years fit together in a South Australian public school. education.sa.gov.au, opens in a new tab

Free tools
Something to see it move.
Three we reach for in sessions. None of them replaces the calculator the exam allows, and all three are better than a worksheet for seeing why something is true.
- Desmos A graphing calculator in the browser. Type the function, drag the slider, watch what changes. desmos.com, opens in a new tab
- GeoGebra Geometry, algebra and 3D in one place. The best free tool there is for seeing a proof move. geogebra.org, opens in a new tab
- Khan Academy Short video lessons and practice sets, maths and science, free. Good for the night before a test when a topic has gone missing. khanacademy.org, opens in a new tab
Libraries
Somewhere to work.
A public library is one of the three places we teach. Membership of any South Australian public library is free, and one card works in all of them.
When it is more than the maths
Someone to talk to.
Sometimes the subject is not the problem. These two are free, confidential and used to hearing from teenagers and their parents.
- Kids Helpline 1800 55 1800. Free, private counselling for anyone aged 5 to 25, by phone or webchat, any hour of any day. kidshelpline.com.au, opens in a new tab
- headspace Mental health support for 12 to 25 year olds, with centres across Adelaide and online. headspace.org.au, opens in a new tab
Every link on this page was opened and checked before it was listed. If one has moved, tell us at hello@studynote.com.au and we will fix it. Nothing here is ours, nothing needs a sign-up, and nothing is paid for.
Where the honest answer is not published anywhere a parent would find it, we write it ourselves. Those are on our articles page.
