01 / THE WORK
Small groups, your subject, and no set programme.
You teach the subject you know to a handful of kids who need it, the way you would if nobody had handed you a worksheet.
- The groups
Six at most at SACE, eight in Years 7 to 10, and usually fewer. Small enough to stay a conversation, so nobody sits stuck and quiet for an hour. One-to-one when that suits the family better.
- The setting
At the family’s kitchen table with a parent home, in the open study area of a public library, or online with your camera on. Afternoons and evenings, around Adelaide and the Adelaide Hills.
- The material
No set programme. Sessions run from what the kid covered in class this week, mapped to the SA Curriculum or the SACE outline. You write practice notes at the end of every session and a short progress note before each assessment.
- Your name on the page
Every tutor is named on the Your teacher page, with what they teach, before anything is booked. Families know exactly who is coming, and we check in with them after your first sessions.
Who we are looking for
- Registered teachers Teaching maths, science or technologies in a school now, or recently.
- Teaching-degree students With the subject knowledge, and placements behind them.
- Strong recent graduates In the subject itself, who have taught or tutored it before.
Not exactly one of the three? Apply anyway and say what you are instead. The form asks, and we would rather read it than guess.
02 / THE BAR
Four things, and none of them optional.
This is the standard published to parents, word for word. It is what they are told about you before they meet you.
- Working with Children Check Current, and held before they sit with a kid. Without exception.
- Qualified in the subject In the subject they teach, in their own right, worded so you can check it.
- Experience at that year level Teaching experience in the year levels they take.
- A conversation first A free first conversation before any commitment.
03 / HOW JOINING WORKS
Nobody meets a student before step three.
Tell us who you are
The form below: the subjects and year levels you teach, your qualifications, where you teach now, and how you teach a topic that is not landing. Your CV as well, as a file or a link. That one is required. A cover letter is not, but it helps.
A conversation
With the teacher who runs StudyNote, about how you actually teach a topic that is not landing. Not a script, and not a test.
The checks
Your identity confirmed against photo identification, your Working with Children Check verified through the Screening Unit, qualifications sighted, a referee who has seen you with students, and child safe training completed with our code of conduct signed. All five, before any student.
First sessions
With a family who has been told you are new to us, and we check in with them after each one. Then it is yours.
04 / APPLY
Who you are, what you teach, and how you teach it.
About five minutes, and your CV at the end. Nothing here commits either of us to anything.
A teacher reads it The person who runs StudyNote. Not a recruiter, and not a portal.
A straight reply either way Including when the answer is not yet.
Then a conversation Pay, hours and how you are engaged are settled there, not on this page.
Your details stay with us Used to consider your application, and for nothing else.
